Source-scoped one-octave fingering row.
One-octave reference. Finger numbers appear only for the hand and direction combinations covered by the sources listed above.
F Major contains F, G, A, Bb, C, D, E. Repeat F at the top to complete one octave. Its key signature has 1 flat.
F major contains B-flat, with A–B♭ and E–F as the half-step pairs. Write B♭, rather than A♯, in this scale: each scale degree keeps its own letter name. The one-flat key signature applies in both ascending and descending notation.
The documented right-hand ascent is 1–2–3–4–1–2–3–4: finger 4 plays B♭, then the thumb plays C. The left hand uses 5–4–3–2–1–3–2–1. The right hand therefore ends this single octave on finger 4, not finger 5.
Suggested drill: with the right hand, practice A–B♭–C–D using 3–4–1–2, then return using 2–1–4–3. Add the surrounding notes only after you can follow those numbers without stopping. In the left hand, check the separate C–D crossing before joining the hands.
The one-octave ascending notes are F–G–A–Bb–C–D–E–F. The key signature contains 1 flats: Bb. These accidentals also apply in descent.
In the cited one-octave version, right-hand finger 4 plays Bb and the thumb plays the following C. The ascent is 1–2–3–4–1–2–3–4. This explains the B-flat-to-C crossing in this version; it does not make it the only possible fingering for every phrase.
This source-documented one-octave reference shows right hand ascending 1–2–3–4–1–2–3–4 and descending 4–3–2–1–4–3–2–1; left hand ascending 5–4–3–2–1–3–2–1 and descending 1–2–3–1–2–3–4–5. Read each row in playing order. These are sourced choices, not the only possible fingerings, and must not be repeated mechanically for a second octave.
Suggested drill: with the right hand, practice A–B♭–C–D using 3–4–1–2, then return using 2–1–4–3. Add the surrounding notes only after you can follow those numbers without stopping. In the left hand, check the separate C–D crossing before joining the hands.
